Women’s sexual and reproductive rights just sounds like an excuse for utter selfishness. I could just imagine the response of many women to that first sentence; “well it’s my body” or “if it’s inside of me, it’s mine”. It should be women’s sexual rights to control their lusting behavior. They want to freely have sex and then be selfish enough to be irresponsible when it comes to any unwanted outcomes. Women have the right to be responsible initially, and not put themselves or their bodies at risk to begin with. Oops is not an excuse to kill a child. Yeah kill, abortion is a word for oops I don’t want to deal with this baby inside of me, let’s trash it.
Here’s the deal, if there is a baby inside of you, it’s NOT YOURS, you do not have the right to kill the baby just because you don’t want it, regardless of what society says. It’s Gods baby, given to you as a gift, which does require much responsibility. Besides, what if that baby was you? Would you want your mother to have an abortion? If your mother did that, you would not be reading this right now, how does that sound to you? To devalue a baby inside of you, (Gods child), is to devalue yourself, Gods child. Because you matter to God, you are part of His plan. From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. (Psalm 22:10).
Everyone needs to know where they came from, cause you did not just come from your mommy and daddy, you came from God, you are not just some “oops accident”. For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. (Psalm 139:13-14). Yeah, you are in the book of life, you matter, and so does any baby that begins forming inside of you.
Now most women who have become pregnant and want to have an abortion are overcome by their selfishness, to kill a baby simply because you did not control or protect yourself is utterly self-centered. Most women who have this outcome made a choice that they now need to live with. Your choice = your responsibility, you are accountable to God for your actions and you will be called to give an account of your life before Jesus. Becoming pregnant with a baby is a blessing and should be considered such. Besides, if you were listening to God, and not sinning, you would not be having sex until you were married anyway. A woman does have this reproductive right; do not sin. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (Psalm 51:5). It is, in most cases, your sin that gets you into YOUR situation. “‘And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough? (Ezekiel 16:20). A baby should not be aborted because of your lust, poor choices, or sexual sin. Besides, you will deeply regret it later in your life, it will haunt your emotions every single day!
Now there are 2 more controversial aspects of women’s rights when it comes to abortions. The first one is when the baby is a product of a rape. The second one is when having the baby will actually put the woman’s life at risk. Of the two there is still only one that can legitimately included into women’s reproductive rights. Shocking to you? No matter how much society may wish to disagree, the only time that there should be any question as to actually aborting a baby is when it puts the mothers health in severe risk. And in this case, it is the mothers right to make the decision. For a mother to sacrifice herself for the baby in this instance would require great love.
As to aborting a baby that is due to a rape, it’s going to take a lot of love for someone to do the right thing. Sure, there is an emotional connection of distress and trauma associated to the coming of such a baby, but it’s still Gods baby. Initially the woman may consider the baby inside of her to be “dirty”, because she emotionally feels that way. However, it is not the man or her who is forming the baby, it is God. This does not mean that a woman would have to keep the baby and be it’s mother, a woman could choose to give the child up for adoption after the baby is born. Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” (Genesis 4:1).
But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him (Galatians 1:15). At age 35, my mother informed me that she had been raped earlier in life, and that I was the product of that rape. Even though she was raped, she still choose to bore me out of love. Shocked? Not only that, but she purposely named me “Jonathan”, which means gift from God. And raised me up mostly on her own with the help of the Lord above. You see, God has a purpose for your life, and for the lives that he forms in the womb. Because of my mothers sacrifice, I have been used by God to touch the lives of others. Glory be to my creator, may you too understand the part you are planned to play in this world, along with the understanding that God has plans for each and every one of us. That understanding is a women’s reproductive right!
FYI, with the understanding that rape is a horrible thing and that it has long term emotional ramifications, it would help any victim to come to a place of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something you do for those who hurt you, you are the one who benefits from forgiveness, it will liberate you from the pain inside of you that holds you captive to things such as resentment, bitterness and anger. You don’t need to carry those things around with you, they are poison to you and those you come in contact with. Let God be your avenger, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Read more on forgiveness, and how to forgive.
